Amalfi was one of the Maritime Republics with Pisa, Genova and Venezia, in fact here every four years there is the historical Regatta (“Regata storica delle Antiche Repubbliche Marinare”). As soon as you arrive in Amalfi, trepassing the Porta della Marina, you will lead in the main square where is located the S. Andrea’s Cathedral. The Cathedral is accessed via a staircase and there you can find the relics of S. Andrea. Then penetrating through the narrow streets you can arrive at the Paper Museum (Museo della carta) where you can see as occurred the preparation of the local and typical paper. An another important attraction are the Arsenals , here were made the “Galee”, some typical boats for transporting goods in east.
